Here are a few favorite places and restaurants to go to in Rome:
Near the ancient section of Rome, Campo di Fiore, where there is a fantastic outdoor food market or mercato —
every morning and at night lots of cafes, places to get gelato and nightlife are two great restaurants:
Trattoria Settimio: Via del Pellegrino 117, 00186 Rome, Italy. +39 (0)6 68801976
It’s family run, no menu, each evening’s meal is set by the chef/la madre. Mostly locals go there. It’s delicious &
you need to make a reservation.
Roscioli: via dei Giubbonari 21-22, 00186 Rome, Italy. +39 066875287. Need reservation– Absolutely delicious.
They also have a Salumelra at the front of the restaurant that sells all kinds of fabulous cheese, meats, olive oil,
olives, bread & tons more.
Galleria Doria Pamphilj: beautiful art collection housed in the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj–the family still lives there. It’s situated between the Via del Corso and Via della Gatta. The principal entrance is on the Via del Corso.
Via del Corso, 305, Rome , +39 06 679 7323. Hours: Monday hours 9:00 am–7:00 pm. http://www.doriapamphilj.it/ukhome.asp
Basilica di Santa Maria del Popolo: small & intimate–my favorite church–and I’m not into many! Located on the north side of Piazza del Popolo, it has two, must see in the flesh, beautiful Caravaggio’s: Crucifixion of Saint Peter & the Conversion of Saint Paul. It’s also a lovely place to cool off if it’s hot and/ or just to sit & day dream. http://www.santamariadelpopolo.it/
One Comment on “This is the view from the studio – a peaceful place to sit a while.”
